
The fall concert season begins this weekend with a lineup as varied and vibrant as the foliage found on the CWRU campus this time of year. Here are the music events for the week ahead:
Saturday 10/8
2011 Saxophones on Saturday Festival
featuring Dr. Steve Duke

Enjoy an afternoon filled with Saxophones!
Featuring solo and quartet performances by members of the CWRU/CIM Saxohpone Studio. Presenting repertoire of Glazunov, Noda, Ibert, Dubois, Monk, Woods, and Niehaus. Free and open to the public.

Case Symphonic Winds & University Circle Wind Ensemble
3 p.m. Kulas Hall, Cleveland Institute of Music

Works by Prokofieff, Sousa, Grainger, Bass, and an premiere commissioned work by Kevin Krumenauer. Free and open to the public.

Case/University Circle Symphony Orchestra
7:30 p.m. Kulas Hall, Cleveland Institute of Music
Dr. Kathleen A. Horvath, conductor
Featuring music by Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky and the 2011 Concerto Competition winner Alyssa Hoffert playing concerto in E flat for alto saxophone and orchestra by Glazunov. Free and Open to the Public.

Choral ShowCase – Women and Men together in Song
7:30 p.m. Harkness Chapel, CWRU
As a part of the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Weekend activities, the performance features Case Concert Choir, Early Music Singers, University Singers, Solstice, and Speakeasy. The evening will include selections for women’s, men’s, and mixed voices along with a special musical tribute to CWRU Alumni. Free and Open to the Public.
